The Energy Star logo is a symbol of a company’s commitment to providing customers with a product that performs above code. For a builder, this means the home has been designed, built, and tested to achieve energy savings of 15% to 20% above code. In New Mexico, the building code requires a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index rating of 83 or lower; Winton Homes is building homes with HERS rating of 60. Energy Star homes are built to incorporate water management, energy efficiency, and certified HVAC system.
A new home that has earned the Energy Star logo has undergone a process of inspections, testing, and verification to meet strict requirements set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Energy Star certified homes use 15 to 30% less energy than typical new homes while also delivering better comfort, quality, and durability.
